I would like to extend a warm welcome to Patrick Estate State School and hope that you take the opportunity to not only engage with our website, but to also make a more personal and individualised contact with myself and/or Patrick Estate State School staff.
Patrick Estate State School is nestled in between local farms on Mahon Road only 5 minutes from Lowood and Wivenhoe Dam. There is a positive energy to the school and an encouraging atmosphere. The school is very close knit, and the staff are all supportive and approachable with a genuine interest in meeting the needs of every student. As a small school we offer many opportunities to encourage social, emotional and academic growth. We have a positive behaviour focus with regular events, special events and rewards days.
Growing student success happens when our teachers and Patrick Estate State School families work together. By embracing our Values of – Pride, Engage, Strive and Supportive, we can create the most beneficial learning experience for our students in two multi-age classrooms. I have seen the amazing results of this collaborative effort reflected in our school clubs, our P&C and throughout our Community.
At Patrick Estate SS, we regularly follow-up on students to ensure they strive to achieve their best possible result. We don't want them to just 'have a go', we expect all students to 'give their best effort, always'. Continuing the School improvement is always about trying to maintain the best possible education for our students. As a school we continue to 'promote high expectations' and have the belief that 'every child is capable of success based on their individual capabilities. Since 2017, we have strategically focused on improving the vocabulary of our young learners through explicit instruction in writing and reading. We track the development of students in these areas by setting Individual benchmarks/targets and goals. Our school goal is to create an environment that recognises the unique stages of development and provides appropriate child-centred experiences based on the Australian Curriculum. When developing programs, our Teachers take into account the whole child and their individual learning needs. While our key focus in 2020 is Reading and writing, we still placing a high importance on other areas of the curriculum such as Literacy, Mathematics, science, HAAS, visual Arts, performing arts, music and physical education/health.
Patrick Estate State School provides learning for the 21st Century and all classrooms are equipped with up to date technology including interactive white boards, laptop, desk top computers and ipads.
The work that is going on in our classrooms is outstanding and our staff have been putting in countless additional hours to ensure our students are getting the best possible education. Our students are arriving at school ready to learn! Parents are getting our students to school every day in full school uniform looking neat and presentable, ensuring that our kids have the best possible start to the day. Overall, Patrick Estate State School is an exciting and busy place to be. We are very proud of our students' enthusiastic effort to learn.
To help keep you/parents informed about all the good things happening at Patrick Estate State School, I encourage you to frequently visit our website, School Stream app, our Facebook page and read our fortnightly Newsletter. The Newsletter contains the school calendar listing activities and events, and other important school and community information. To keep you informed of school wide activities, classroom happenings, P&C events, and reminders from the school office, the Newsletter is sent home every second Thursday detailing the fortnight to come and is automatically uploaded to the School Stream app. The front of the Newsletter lists information and reminders to make sure you don't miss anything important. I encourage you to post it on your refrigerator or in your phone for easy reference.
